Slender Cinquefoil (Potentilla gracilis var. fastigiata), also called "Five Fingers" or "Five Finger Grass" - is a native perennial wildflower found in the Sierra Nevada, and is part of the rose (or rosaceae) family. With at least five leaves in total (it can have up to 9), each leaf is considered to have a direct association with one of the five natural elements: earth, water, air, fire, and spirit. Others have applied the intentions health, love, money, power, and wisdom to the leaves. It has also been used in flying ointments. Whatever your goal, cinquefoil can lend itself to your workings!

Slender Cinquefoil was used by tribes of the Pacific Northwest for various medicinal purposes. The Okanagan-Colville tribe made an infusion of pounded roots as a tonic for the blood, general aches and pains, diarrhea, gonorrhea, and for washing sores. The Thompson tribe used a poultice of mashed leaves and roots on wounds to draw out the pain.

Cinquefoil is associated with Beltane, Taurus, Jupiter, and Mercury.
